Let’s Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series History

As part of the Let’s Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of April 22 – Wadjda (2012, Saudi Arabia).

In the first feature film shot entirely in Saudi Arabia, and the first feature film made by a female Saudi filmmaker, we follow Wadjda, a young Saudi girl, will go to great lengths to buy a green bicycle. Her goal challenges many societal restrictions. Yet, she insists and enters a Qur’an-reciting contest to raise the money for her dream.

The screening and discussion will take place at The Miniplex at Richards’ Goat (401 I Street, Arcata)

Film series is free and open to all ages.
