Shannon Berge Academic and Career Advising Center

DOJ Crime Lab Field Trip

On Friday, October 5th, Kristina Hunt, CNRS Career Advisor in the Academic and Career Advising Center, took a group of 20 students to tour an active crime lab at the Department of Justice in Eureka. The students reported that it was an “an eye opening experience” and hope to see it available for more students in the future. 90% of the students who attended felt that the event was very good, or excellent. “It was valuable to hear about a variety of career opportunities, what is in demand, and the requirements needed to get there. I was able to speak one-on-one with a Criminalist. She gave great advice and explained the process of becoming a Criminalist” stated one student attendee. The opportunity was created for underrepresented students in Biology and Chemistry using funds from a diversity grant received from the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
