Imagine, if you will, a yacht. It’s forged of gold and strong African teak, bobbing gently at anchor somewhere between the French Riviera and Detroit. A statue of the late Roger Troutman is affixed to the stern like a guardian angel. The ladies of Klymaxx wander the decks serving strawberries and cream on silver platters. Sylvester himself is the skipper, and Hall & Oates are down below, keeping the engines in shipshape. This is the S.S. Chromeo. Opening the show will be Mayer Hawthorne & The County and Sammy Bananas. Tickets are $35 general and $30 for HSU students. Tickets are available at the University Ticket Office and at humboldt.edu/aspresents.

Chromeo is Dave 1 and P-Thugg. Since their 2004 debut album She’s in Control they’ve been creating party music for the dance floor reminiscent to the sound of 80’s groups like Hall & Oats and Klymaxx. The single “Needy Girl” became a world wide club hit and Chromeo began to tour the world performing at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury amongst other high profile gigs.

Mayer Hawthorne will bring his group The County back to Humboldt for the second time in as many years (having sold out the Red Fox Tavern previously). Mayer Hawthorne counts Stones Throw label head Peanut Butter Wolf, BBC Radio 1 host Gilles Peterson and producer/DJ Mark Ronson as “fans”. He also performs almost all of the instrumental parts and sings lead on his retro sounding records including the hit single “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out.”

DJ Sammy Bananas will open the show which will be THE dance party of the year!
