Mock’s latest book, _Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More_, was released in February and reached the New York Times Best Seller’s list amid a heaping of critical praise.

Slate.com’s Christopher Carbone described Redefining Realness as “A memoir that takes the coming-of-age narrative to both a higher and deeper level. Mock juxtaposes the personal and the political with a dose of academic theory and pop culture, honestly detailing both the joys and difficulties of her journey.”

Mock first told her story of growing up as a trans girl in 2011 in _Marie Claire_, where she’s currently a contributing editor. Besides being a writer, Mock is also a cultural commentator and dedicated advocate for trans women’s rights in addition to advocating for girls and women in general.

To this end, in 2012, she launched #GirlsLikeUs, a social movement that celebrates the diversity of womanhood and empowers all women, particularly trans women.

In 2013, Mock joined the board of directors at the Arcus Foundation, a leading global organization advancing social justice and conservation issues.

In 2014, Mock was interviewed on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live," "The Colbert Report," and "Melissa Harris-Perry," and has hosted segments for _HuffPost Live_ and _Pivot’s_ "TakePart Live."

Besides her many honors and awards, Mock was also featured in the HBO Documentary "The Out List" as well as having appeared in the "Washington Post," "The New York Times," NPR, and elsewhere.
