Career Center Boosts Holiday Job Services

The Humboldt State University Career Center is ramping up its employment assistance efforts to connect students and local businesses during the holidays.

The Career Center provides career counseling, internship and job development and career preparation assistance to students.

“It also offers employment services to local employers that are particularly helpful to retailers and manufacturers during the holidays,” says Joy Soll, Coordinator of the center’s Internship Programs, Job Location & Development.

Through the Career Center’s online job roster, Springboard, local businesses can list their open part-time, full-time and temporary jobs and internship opportunities.

More than 8,000 students and alumni with an active interest in employment or work experience are currently registered on Springboard.

“This is a great potential applicant pool for local employers interested in tapping into university talent, and for students it’s an incredible learning opportunity that helps to build work ethic, provides financial support and bridges the gap between education and employment,” Soll adds.

The Career Center will host its next Career Expo on February 22, 2013. All area employers are invited to the event to recruit students for their business openings.
