- Jacks complete remarkable comeback » ARCATA — Chrissy Motzny supplied the pop and Lizzy Prescott kept the party rolling in Humboldt State's 9-0 win over Western Oregon, completing a remarkable comeback through the loser's bracket that ended with HSU earning the crown at the NCAA Division II West Region Softball Championships on Sunday.

- Six Jacks headed to national meet » ARCATA — Following a banner season that included school records, seasonal and career-best performances, Humboldt State track and field reached another all-time high Monday when final qualifying list for the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships released Tuesday included the names of six Lumberjacks.

- Jacks move up in pack at CCAA Track & Field Championships » LOS ANGELES – With points coming from all directions, the Humboldt State men's and women's track and field teams continued their season of impressive progress, finishing fourth and fifth in the respective divisions at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships that concluded Saturday.
- Jacks Seek Postseason Success » This Week’s Games: One more shot at postseason prominence comes in the form of the NCAA Division II West Region Softball Championships. For the first time since 2004, the Lumberjacks get a chance to host the event, which begins Wednesday at 9 a.m. on the HSU Softball Field. Humboldt State has been the No. 1 seed the past three years, but on each occasion they have been unable to host the event because of a conflict with commencement activities on campus. This year’s event begins with No. 3 Cal State Monterey Bay facing No. 6 Western Oregon in the opener, followed by a 11:30 matchup between No. 2 Cal State Stanislaus and No. 7 Seattle University. At 2 p.m., No. 4 UC San Diego plays No. 5 Cal State Dominguez Hills, and the day finally concludes with the No. 1 Lumberjacks taking on No. 8 Cal State San Bernardino at 4:30 p.m. Action continues with four games Thursday and Friday, two on Saturday, and one, if necessary, on Sunday. On the line is a berth in the NCAA Division II National Championships, scheduled for May 15-19 in Houston, Texas.

- Softball: Prescott strikes out 13, Jacks clinch title » ARCATA - Lizzy Prescott struck out 13 and gave up only one hit, leading Humboldt State to a 5-1 victory over Chico State that clinched the California Collegiate Athletic Association title for HSU on Friday.
- Track & Field: Athletes set to chase conference prominence » This Week’s Meet: Humboldt State’s second year of membership in the California Collegiate Athletic Association culminates this week when the Lumberjacks participate in the CCAA Track & Field Championships, hosted by Cal State Los Angeles. Competition in the decathlon and heptathlon open the meet Thursday, both of those events concluding early Friday. The rest of Friday’s schedule features heats and selected finals on the track and in the field, with the bulk of the finals scheduled for Saturday.
- Rowers prepare for WIRA Championships » This Week’s Event: Humboldt State resumes its season with competition at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday on Lake Natoma, near Rancho Cordova. More than 30 programs from all three NCAA affiliations will participate.
- Softball: CCAA Tournament next task for Lumberjacks » This Week’s Games: Humboldt State softball will again host the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament, schedule for Thursday through Saturday. The event begins with CSU Stanislaus and Cal State San Bernardino facing off at 1 p.m., followed by HSU taking on CSU Monterey Bay at 3:30 p.m. All games will be played on the HSU Softball Field.
- Jacks to host NCAA West Region tourney » ARCATA – With one tournament currently in progress, Humboldt State softball learned today that it will be hosting another next week when the NCAA announced that the West Region Division II Championships will be played in Arcata.

- Humboldt State named host for 2008 CCAA Softball Championships » WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (April 21) – Humboldt State, which clinched a conference playoff berth last weekend, has been named the host institution for the 2008 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Championships, commissioner Robert J. Hiegert announced on Monday.

- Softball: Back on the road, Jacks take on Sonoma » This Week’s Games: Humboldt State softball continues its California Collegiate Athletic Association season, but takes a break from hosting for the first time in two weeks. Instead, the Jacks travel to Rohnert Park to take on Sonoma State University for Friday and Saturday doubleheaders. Friday’s action begins at 1 p.m. and first pitch is at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
- Track & Field: Lumberjacks’ quest for qualifiers continues » This Week’s Meet: With the advertising slogan, “Where The World’s Best Athletes Compete!,” the annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut promise elite competition. Among those elite athletes participating in this year’s event will be four Lumberjacks who have established national prominence in the NCAA Division II. That group begins competition Thursday in the Puma Collegiate Invitational session, with two athletes involved, and the other two will be in action Friday. …Several HSU athletes will travel over the mountain to Redding to do battle at the Shasta Invitational hosted by Shasta College. The meet gets underway at 11 a.m. Saturday.
- Rowing: NCRC Championships up next for rowers » This Week’s Event: In a way, the season begins for the HSU women’s rowing team when they travel to Vancouver, Wash., for Saturday’s Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference Championships. The regatta is actually the first postseason-type event for 2008, with three and possibly four more to follow in the next month. The Jacks will compete for individual boat and team titles at the NCRC event, which includes six other schools.
- Status quo for Jacks in regional, national polls » ARCATA - After sweeping last weekend’s four-game series against UC San Diego, Humboldt State Softball continues to top the NCAA Division II West Region poll for the fourth week in a row while remaining at the No. 6 slot in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Top 25 poll released Wednesday.

- Heavy April home slate begins Friday » This Week’s Games: The Jacks resume California Collegiate Athletic Association play this weekend when they host Cal State San Bernardino for Friday and Saturday doubleheaders to begin their stretch of 12 games at home this month. Friday’s doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s begins at 11 a.m.
- Jacks split up in search of top competition » This Week’s Meet: Seeking the best possible competition that will lift them to improved marks, HSU’s track and field athletes head in opposite directions this week for a pair of prestigious meets. While the majority of Lumberjacks head north to compete at the Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore., a small contingent of athletes will stay in state for the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto. Both meets are two-day events, beginning Friday and ending on Saturday.
- NCRC Invitational offers head-to-head battles between top rivals » This Week’s Event: Lining up alongside most of the crews from throughout the region, the Lumberjacks travel to compete in the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference Invitational on Vancouver Lake, Vancouver, Wash. on Saturday. The seven members of the NCRC — HSU, Willamette University, University of Puget Sound, Lewis & Clark College, Pacific Lutheran University, Western Washington and Seattle Pacific — are all expected to attend, along with other invited programs. Last year’s attendees included UC San DIego, Gonzaga University, St. Mary’s and the University of California.

- Non-league twinbill up next, then more CCAA action » This Week’s Games: The Lumberjacks are on their spring break road trip, with their first stop in San Bernardino, for a Tuesday 1:30 p.m. doubleheader against Cal State San Bernardino. To finish off their week of travel, HSU travels to Seaside, for a three-day doubleheader series against Cal State Monterey Bay, with noon starts on Thursday and Friday and an 11 a.m. start on Saturday.

- Central Valley squads up next for Lumberjacks » ARCATA — The long bus ride to Turlock and the relatively short ride home from Chico are this week’s travel plans for the Lumberjacks, who make their final journey of the regular season this week. Of course, the ride home will be even shorter if the Jacks can bring home a pair of victories. They’ll begin that quest against the CSU Stanislaus Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Friday, then take on the Chico State Wildcats at the same time Saturday.

- HSU Olympian Rejoins Fray » Humboldt State head volleyball coach Sue Woodstra begins duties June 1 as an assistant coach of the U.S. Women's National Team, and will serve in that role through the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
