CSU Budget Committee to Talk Cost Savings at May 23 Meeting; HSU Invited to Attend Presentation

The California State University's System-wide Budget Advisory Committee will meet Wednesday, May 23, to discuss cost reduction and revenue strategies in the face of unprecedented budget cuts to the CSU system. The meeting will be broadcast live online and the Humboldt State community is invited to attend a special presentation of the meeting from 10:30 to noon in Founders Hall 111.

Attendees can attend the presentation and ask questions about possible cost cutting strategies for the CSU. The CSU Budget Office website provides information concerning strategies that were presented at the May 2012 Board of Trustees meeting. Download the PDF at this link.

Beyond attending the May 23 presentation on campus, individuals can participate in the following ways:

  • Submit questions in advance of the meeting by sending an email to this link. Those questions will be compiled and addressed during the meeting or included in a FAQ that will be posted after the meeting at the SBAC review page.
  • Register to view the presentation online if you are unable to attend the event on campus. To register, follow the “Register Now” link on the SBAC review page. If you need technical assistance, contact Cisco WebEx Technical Support: 1-866-229-3239 (from the U.S. and Canada) or 1-408-435-7088 (toll internationally). Note that the number of connections is limited. Even though your registration will be confirmed, attendees are accepted into the webcast on a first-come, first-served basis. Live captioning will be provided.

If you are not able to participate, a recording of the webcast will be available for a limited time immediately following the meeting at the SBAC review page.

The Board of Trustees reviewed possible cost reduction and revenue enhancement strategies at the board’s May 2012 meeting. The presentation is posted online at the Cal State website (see strategies, beginning at page 11 of the PDF).

After the SBAC meeting, the Trustees’ Committee on Finance will meet to review the suggestions and identify options that should be further explored and analyzed by the full board. The Finance Committee is expected to meet during the month of June and, as required, public notice will be posted ten-days in advance.
