Homecoming & Family Weekend: Sept. 30 to Oct. 1

Humboldt State will host its annual Homecoming & Family Weekend for students, alumni, family and friends Sept. 30 to Oct. 1.

The two-day line-up includes a family friendly tailgate party, behind-the-scenes campus tours and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends old and new.

The weekend kicks off Friday, Sept. 30 with a free clubs fair and Greek carnival on the UC Quad featuring face painting, a photo booth, games and the Humboldt State Marching Lumberjacks band. For a chance to get re-acquainted with Humboldt, take one of our guided campus tours, leaving the UC Quad at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Enjoy free food from local eateries during the taste of Humboldt Welcome Reception on the UC Quad from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. For full weekend details, visit the registration and info booth on the Quad from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Registration continues on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the HSU Bookstore. Get a close-up view of local wildlife and the Eureka Waterfront on a Humboldt Bay Kayak Tour, leaving from the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Also on Saturday, golden graduates—alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago—will be honored from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the annual Golden Grad Brunch at the University Center Banquet Room. The weekend wraps up Saturday with a tailgate party and food festival featuring Arcata’s favorite food trucks and the Homecoming Football Game. Come cheer on the Lumberjacks in the Redwood Bowl as they take on Dixie State. Humboldt alumni will be on hand, offering kids’ games and face painting during the tailgate and game.

Friday, Sept. 30th

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Clubs Fair & Carnival. Enjoy a Greek Carnival with appearances by the Marching Lumberjacks, photo booth, face painting, games and prizes. Free. UC Quad.

10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Campus Tours. Get reacquainted with your campus. Free tours leave every two hours. UC Quad.

12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Registration and Info. Free. UC Quad.

4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Taste of Humboldt Welcome Reception. Enjoy free samples of what our local eateries have to offer. Free UC Quad.

6 p.m. Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner. $35. Kate Buchanan Room.

Saturday, Oct. 1st

8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Registration and Info. HSU Bookstore.

9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Humboldt Bay Kayak Tours (2 hours). View wildlife and see the Eureka Waterfront and Woodley Island from the bay. Register. $40. Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, Eureka.

9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Pastels on the Plaza & Arcata Famers’ Market. Free. Arcata Plaza.

9 a.m. Guided Community Forest Walk. Explore Humboldt State’s backyard on a guided stroll through the Arcata Community Forest. Register. $5.

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Behind-the-Scenes Tours. Show tours. Free. Various locations.

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Classes Without Quizzes. Lively lectures with HSU professors. Enjoy the learning and don’t sweat the notes—there will NOT be a test. Show classes. Free. Native American Forum & BSS 166.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Golden Grad Brunch. Honoring alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago. $30. Register. UC Banquet Room (next to the Depot).

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Arts Showcase. Take a tour of art labs, get inspired at the campus galleries or sneak a peek at the upcoming musical production, Brigadoon. Show arts events. Free. Various Locations.

4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tailgate Party and Food Festival. Join in for good family fun. There will be a ton of kid-friendly activities, from some of Arcata’s favorite food trucks and appearances by Lucky Logger and the famous Humboldt State Marching Lumberjacks band. Free tailgate, separate for food. FS Lot 9. Food Festival at Lot R8.
