Walkers are encouraged to join the parade of floats for the Oct. 3 event, which leaves the campus events field at 4:15 p.m, to open the 2014 Homecoming & Family Weekend. Interested participants can contact Courtney Haraldson via email at cak50@humboldt.edu for more information and check out the Parade Route here.

Other activities scheduled for the opening day include a clubs carnival and evening pep rally on the UC Quad. Saturday’s action begins with kayak tours of Humboldt Bay and the Farmer’s Market on the Arcata Plaza before football activities grab the focus.

Fans will gather at Lot G11 on campus at 3 p.m. for a tailgate party, where they’ll count down to the 6 p.m. kickoff of the football game between the HSU Lumberjacks and visiting South Dakota School of Mines Hardrockers in Redwood Bowl.

Humboldt State’s volleyball team will also be in action, with first serve against Cal Poly Pomona scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Kinesiology & Athletics building. Music aficionados can enjoy the HSU Jazz Orchestra and Symphonic Band’s concert, slated for 8 p.m. in the Fulkerson Recital Hall.
