HSU Community Gets Humboldt Made Benefits

Everyone in the extended community of Humboldt State University is getting an early holiday gift—a community membership with Humboldt Made.

The new HSU Humboldt Made Membership provides access special offers from select local businesses. It comes courtesy of the Humboldt State Association, better known as Forever Humboldt.

Offerings include 10 percent off JB Maryn Gift Crates, 15 percent off Drakes Glen Creations & Artisan Chocolate, 15 percent off Fire and Light showroom, 5 percent off Humboldt Made products at Wildberries every Friday, free shipping from Stargazerbarns.com, and many more. Additional offerings and discounts will be added in coming months.

These benefits are usually reserved for those with the Humboldt Made community memberships, which are available for a recommended $25 donation.

The new benefit lasts through November of 2016 and can be used by all members of Forever Humboldt. That means all current HSU students and their parents & families, faculty, staff, and alumni are eligible for great discounts while also supporting the local economy.

Students and employees can receive the discounts by presenting a current campus ID or by registering and using their free Forever Humboldt card. Alumni and families of students must complete the registration and use their free Forever Humboldt card.

Humboldt Made exists to help grow our local economy by helping businesses expand “beyond the Redwood Curtain.” This new benefit program builds on an ongoing partnership between HSU and Humboldt Made. The University was involved in creating Humboldt Made’s initial marketing materials, and over the years Humboldt Made businesses have donated food and giveaways for numerous HSU activities including Centennial Roadshow Parties.

It’s also a big step for Forever Humboldt, which has been striving to serve a much larger member base following a change in its approach last year. Forever Humboldt eliminated dues and converted from an alumni association to an association for all members of the HSU community.

For its part, Humboldt Made will benefit from promotion of its local businesses on campus and in outreach to alumni and family members. The organization will also receive a one-time payment from Forever Humboldt, which raises revenue through merchandise sales and sponsorships.
