HSU Expects Athletic Director Finalists in April

Humboldt State University’s search for a new Athletic Director is progressing as planned, with finalists expected to visit campus in April.

The University hopes to make an offer by May and have the role filled by July 1.

The search committee is being led by Doug Dawes, HSU’s Vice President for Administration and Finance. He says that interest in the position has been strong, and he expects the committee to remain on track with the search timeline.

For the campus visits in mid to late April, finalists will spend at least one day on campus meeting with different groups and individuals. They will also participate in an open forum that will be open to the community, which will be scheduled in the evening.

The search committee represents various constituencies on campus as well as the community. As with all campus searches, the names of the search committee members – except for the chair – are confidential.

In addition to a campus search committee, HSU is being assisted in the search by a firm called Athletics Staffing and Consultants.

Prospective candidates may find a position description and learn how to apply at HSU’s website for management employment opportunities. They may also contact Kurt Patberg, Senior Vice President of Athletics Staffing and Consultants, at kpatberg.ASC@gmail.com.

Information about open forums for finalists will be posted on the HSU Athletics website once they are scheduled.
