HSU Forum Weighs Financial Crisis

Arcata – Leading authorities on Redwood Coast economics and finance will examine the global credit crisis and looming recession at a Humboldt State University roundtable on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Goodwin Forum, Nelson Hall East.

Dr. Erick Eschker, Chair of HSU’s Department of Economics, will guide critical analysis by John Dalby, President, Redwood Capital Bank ; Jay E. Reed, CPA and Partner, Aalfs, Evans & Company, LLP ; Drs. Beth Wilson and Steve Hackett, HSU Professors of Economics; and Ted Ruprecht, HSU Professor Emeritus, Economics.

Panelists will take questions from the audience and address whether globalization will inflict as much or more damage on the Redwood Coast economy as on the world at large. They will also consider whether unique characteristics of the region might help insulate it from the worst of the crisis and a gathering recession.

The public is invited to the forum, which will be broadcast later on Access Humboldt TV.

The session is hosted by HSU’s Office for Economic and Community Development and Department of Economics.
