HSU, Local Agencies Present 'Smart Gov.' Forum

Humboldt State University, Redwood Coast Rural Action and the Humboldt Area Foundation will host a California Forward presentation on restructuring state and local governments on Thursday, Mar. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way, Eureka.

California Forward is a nonpartisan, nonprofit statewide effort to foster citizen involvement in modernizing all of the state's government, fiscal and political machinery.

The Mar. 10 public forum, titled "Speak Up, CA!," will address budget reform, redistricting, government accountability and other measures aimed at fundamental change in how all levels of government operate.

California Forward grew from a series of reform projects started by California Common Cause, the Center for Governmental Studies, the New California Network and the Commonwealth Club of California's initiative, Voices of Reform.

Seating at the Wharfinger Building is limited and RSVPs are requested at 826-3400, or email ccrp@humboldt.edu.
