HSU Marks Kickoff of Online Social Work Program

Humboldt State University's College of Professional Studies and Department of Social Work will host a ribbon-cutting event for the department's online Distributed Learning Social Work Programs on Friday, Sept. 9, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the breezeway and lobby of the Behavioral and Social Services building.

The programs stem from a partnership with the California Social Work Education Center at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Superior Region Mental Health Directors Regional Collaborative.

Humboldt State is the first university in California to offer a fully accredited online bachelor of arts degree in social work. It also offers the first online master’s degree in social work in the CSU system. Classes for the Distributed Learning bachelor’s program began this fall and the master’s degree program is currently accepting applications for spring, 2012.

Humboldt State has been educating social work professionals for more than 50 years.

The Sept. 9 ceremony will include a reception with live music and the formal program will begin at 5:15 p.m. President Rollin Richmond will preside.
