Harpst Closure and Alternate Routes

To ensure pedestrian, vehicular, and bicycle safety, Humboldt State University will close Harpst Street between L.K. Wood Boulevard and Rossow Street, beginning MONDAY, MARCH 2nd, as construction of the College Creek Student Housing Project accelerates.

This portion of HARPST ST. WILL BE CLOSED to all traffic except construction deliveries until just prior to the start of the fall semester. It will re-open temporarily to one-way traffic during finals and Commencement week in May. Harpst Street will remain open between B Street and Rossow Streets to provide access to and from all major parking lots in the Student Business Services Building-Harry Griffith Hall area.

A temporary one-way entrance into the campus from L.K. Wood Boulevard will be created via the Redwood Manor Apartments driveway, just north of Harpst Street. This will be a narrow entrance-only route into the large Mai Kai lot, and anyone exiting the campus must use one of the three alternate routes described below. Motorists who choose this temporary route are asked to respect the privacy of Redwood Manor residents, to drive slowly and cautiously, and to keep noise to a minimum.

Motorists should allow extra time for their commutes, and are encouraged to use these unaffected routes in and out of the southern half of campus:

  • B Street at 14th
  • Union Street at 14th
  • Library Parking Lot connection to and from Laurel Drive
