Highlights from the week of October 4.

Granados Shines Again for Lumberjack Cross Country
For the second consecutive race, Rosa Granados finished in first place, this time leading the ‘Jacks to a sixth-place finish at the Charles Bowles Invitational. For her efforts, Granados was named the CCAA Runner of the Week for the second time this season. The HSU men’s cross country team finished in third place and was led by Carson Smith’s tenth place finish. The Lumberjack men are ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country West Region Rankings. Both teams will be in Romeoville, Illinois, on October 9 to participate in the Lewis Conference Crossover Classic. Women’s Soccer Stats Off CCAA Play 0-0-2
HSU went 0-0-2 in its opening week of conference play on October 1 and 3. The ‘Jacks played to a scoreless tie with Cal State San Marcos and a 1-1 tie with Cal State San Bernardino. Baylee Groom scored the goal for the Lumberjacks who have played in four double-overtime matches this season. HSU is ranked 10th in this week’s United Soccer Coaches/NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer West Region poll. Men’s Soccer Sees Streak Come to an End
Humboldt State saw three streaks come to an end last week of CCAA play. The ‘Jacks played to a scoreless tie with Cal State San Marcos, which saw their winning streak come to an end at six. HSU lost 1-0 to Cal State San Bernardino, and the Lumberjacks saw their seven-match shutout streak and unbeaten streak come to an end. HSU, who is sixth in this week’s United Soccer Coaches/NCAA DivisionII Men’s Soccer West Region Poll, will be at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Monterey Bay on October 8 and 10. Volleyball Battling
Humboldt State’s volleyball team lost a pair of three-set matches in their last two matches. They lost in three to SF State at home and to Cal State San Marcos. In their match against Cal State San Marcos, Humboldt State (3-7, 2-5 CCAA) was led by Hannah Cantrell and Lindsey McLaughlin each with five kills. HSU had seven service aces on the evening with Nicole Yakushenok, Gianna Giacomotto, and Nora Thompson each recording two and Kaitlyn Patterson having one service ace.
