Puppies and Pancakes Help Students Ease the Stress of Finals

In the midst of finals week, Humboldt State students got a rare treat: a visit from Milo and Tuula, two Golden Retriever pups specially trained to help students unwind.

Over the course of nearly two hours, students took turns petting and cuddling the friendly pooches, who were part of “Puppy Therapy,” a program organized by the Recreation and Wellness Center.

Research shows that interacting with animals—especially those of the furry, cuddly variety—helps lower cortisol levels, reducing stress.
