Alumni Assoc. Names Honorees

Continuing a tradition begun in 1960, the HSU Alumni Association recently named this year's three Distinguished Alumni Award recipients: Richard Corsi, Kevin Daum and Eric Ramos.

Richard Corsi, representing the College of Natural Resources and Sciences, earned a degree in environmental resources engineering at HSU in 1983. He is currently a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Texas, Austin, where he developed a course on indoor air quality and spearheaded major fundraising efforts for engineering. He has also generously supported HSU's engineering programs.

Eric Ramos, earned his degree in business administration and accounting at HSU in 1996. An entrepreneur and accountant, he was selected to represent the College of Professional Studies. He is the founder of Blue Lake Casino, Blue Lake Entertainment, Mainstay Business Solutions and BLA Construction. He also established Blue Lake Rancheria Scholarship for HSU students and has contributed significantly to Blue Lake School, Humboldt County Sheriff Department and St. Vincent de Paul. Ramos also serves on Planned Parenthood's Board of Directors.

Kevin Daum, Representing the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Daum, now residing in Alameda and New York City, earned his degree at HSU in theatre arts in 1986. Also an entrepreneur, he is founder and CEO for Stratford Financial Services, an INC 500 company. He also founded a successful dinner theatre in the Bay Area. He authors financial columns and books, including “Building Your Own Home For Dummies.” With more than 25 years experience in business and the theatre, he speaks and writes about arts-based learning in business.
