Art Night at the Natural History Museum

The HSU Natural History Museum invites community members to visit for Art Night at the Museum just before Arts! Arcata on Friday, Dec. 9, 4-6pm. This is a chance for children, parents, grandparents, HSU students, and accomplished artists alike to flex their creative muscles by drawing/painting rarely seen beautiful and bizarre museum specimens.

Collections of insects, skulls, birds and more will be brought out of the vault to examine and interpret using the artistic medium of your choice. Participants are encouraged to display their newly created work for the Arts! Arcata reception to follow. The evening will also feature the colorful monoprints of artist Mary Harper, many of which were inspired by museum specimens.

Basic drawing and painting supplies will be provided for those who do not bring their own. Children are encouraged to attend with adult supervision. Standard museum admission applies. For more information visit humboldt.edu/natmus.

Remember to support the Natural History Museum this holiday season. Give the gift of natural sciences and buy locally from the museum store. Choose from a wide variety of unique natural history inspired gifts or give an experience that can be enjoyed for an entire year with a museum membership. The HSU Forestry Club is holding a Christmas tree sale at the Museum Monday-Thursday 11am-1pm and 5-8pm, and Friday-Sunday 8am-8pm. Trees are freshly cut noble fir from southwest Oregon.
