Campus Joins Oct. 18 ShakeOut Earthquake Drill

Students, faculty and staff of Humboldt State University are urged to join the nearly 9 million Californians registered to participate in the Great California Shakeout earthquake readiness drill happening on Oct. 18, at 10:18 am.

More than 55,000 residents of Humboldt, Del Norte and Mendocino counties have signed up at ShakeOut.org for the 2012 exercise. Registration remains open.

The California Shakeout is a statewide earthquake drill held each year to bring awareness to the importance of steps everyone can take to increase their preparedness and stay safe during the next big event. All North Coast residents, businesses, non-profits, government and other agencies are encouraged to register and participate.

There are many ways to participate. Information, tips and resources for earthquake preparedness, safety and recovery are available on the Shakeout website at shakeout.org.
