Economic Fuel, Humboldt County’s first and only student business plan competition, launched in the Fall of 2005. Since the initial competition, Economic Fuel has awarded over $500,000 to winning student teams. Economic Fuel seeks to fund new, viable local business ventures while educating students, and ultimately expanding the business sector and creating more job opportunities in Humboldt County.
The competition is open to students from CR and HSU, students from an accredited online university, and recent graduates of any accredited university who are currently residing in Humboldt County. All prospective applicants are encouraged to attend an Information Session in September, with the launch slated for October 19th. Information Sessions will cover basic information regarding eligibility criteria, rules and entry guidelines, available resources and more.
