The AORE Campus Challenge is a March-Madness-meets-Mother-Nature competition in which 98 universities compete to see who can get the most people outside in a month long time period. The 2019 Campus Challenge kicks off Monday, Sept. 16 and ends Sunday, Oct. 13.

The school with the most logged outdoor activities on the AORE Campus Challenge app wins the title of National Outdoor Champion, and titles and prizes for individuals include: Outsider of the Year, Regional Winners, Recognition Awards, free gear, and more.

In 2016, HSU won first place and received funding to put on outdoor activities for students as well as camping gear for people to rent.

Aside from this being good fun, HSU is participating to emphasize school spirit, environmental stewardship, and a connection with our outdoor environment— whether going outside to garden, disc golfing, walking your dog, tide pooling at the beach, stargazing, bird watching, or more.

Everyone can participate: students, alumni, staff, faculty, and community members, no matter where you are. Let’s show the nation the outdoorsy spirit and stewardship mentality that you share with HSU.

Grab your friends, download the AORE Campus Challenge app today to register with Humboldt State University, and let the outdoor fun begin!
