HSU Launches New Web Design

After six months of preparation, design, and input from the campus community, Humboldt State University launched a brand-new top-level Web site design -- live as of August 15.

The new Web site has a user-customizable Quick Links feature, a virtual tour rich in photography, a more efficient layout for prospective students, and more exposure for campus events.

University webmaster Andrea Schwandt-Arbogast says, "The new site has a cleaner, more current design that puts emphasis on our beautiful campus photography and the key messages of this university."

The goals of the redesign are simple. According to Schwandt-Arbogast, "The new-and-improved site will better the overall information architecture and the technological framework of the Web site so that it is more efficient and allows more flexibility."

"It will also improve the workflow for prospective students and better tell the story of Humboldt State," she says.

The last time HSU redesigned the homepage was August 13, 2004. Since then, new technologies and design concepts have emerged, and Schwandt-Arbogast and the HSU web office has been eager to incorporate these new functions as a way to enhance communications with the campus and prospective student communities.
