Humboldt State and CR Host Book of the Year Competition

Humboldt State and College of the Redwoods are a hosting a student compeition in conjunction with their 2012/13 book of the year, _Outliers_. Eight winning finalists will receive $500.

To participate, students must choose a theme from the book and how it relates to their personal success story. Entrants may use a variety of mediums to express their story including PowerPoint presentation, poem, speech and song.

Malcolm Gladwell’s bestseller, Outliers: The Story of Success, probes the roots of societal achievement and failure. He contends that superachievers are products of families, circumstances and an ultra-strong work ethic.

In addition to a $500 award, finalists will deliver their presentations at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center in Eureka and at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 at the CR Del Norte Library.
