HSU ATHLETICS TO HONOR ROBIN MEIGGS AT HSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GAME ON NOV. 21
The Department of Athletics at Humboldt State University will be recognizing former head rowing coach Robin Meiggs at halftime of the Lumberjacks’ women’s basketball game vs. Sonoma State on Thursday, Nov. 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Lumberjack Arena on the campus of Humboldt State University. Coach Meiggs enjoyed a remarkable career at Humboldt State, and is recognized as one of the University’s most successful coaches. She helped grow the Rowing program from a club sport into a Division II powerhouse, and served as its first and only head coach. Over the years, the team won two national championships and its student-athletes excelled academically. TULL HEADING TO NATIONALS
Daniel Tull finished in seventh place at the 2019 NCAA Division II West Regional Championships with a time of 30:10.6 in the 10K race. By placing in the top 25, Tull earned All-Region honors and paced HSU to a 11th place finish out of 29 teams. Tull earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II National Championships on Nov. 23 at the Arcade Creek Country Club. The 10K race is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. local time. SIX HSU MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Six members of the Humboldt State men’s and women’s soccer teams were selected to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Soccer Teams. On the men’s side, Isaiah Dairo was named to the First Team while Gus Baxter and Devin Hauenstein were Honorable Mention honorees. Pikake Hix, Lindsay Stoner, and Mary Swisher were named to the All-CCAA Women’s Soccer Honorable Mention Teams.

ALEXIA THROWER AND MOLLY DIXON LEADING THE WAY FOR THE LUMBERJACKS
Heading into their non-conference game on Nov. 15, Humboldt State’s women’s basketball team was 1-1 after opening up their 2019-20 season hosting the West Region Crossover Classic. The Lumberjacks defeated Seattle Pacific in their home opener behind Alexia Thrower’s 18 points while Molly Dixon and Gabrielle Carbajal each chipped in 12 points. HSU lost to Western Washington in the final game of the classic 76-73. Thrower scored a game high 23 points while Dixon chipped in 17 points. Sandin Kidder added 12 points while Carbajal scored 10 points for HSU. The Lumberjacks faced Concordia-Irvine in Irvine on Friday, Nov. 15. LUMBERJACKS 2-1 HEADING INTO THEIR NON-CONFERENCE GAME
Heading into their non-conference game with Pacific Union on Saturday, Nov. 16, HSU’s men’s basketball team was 2-1. The Lumberjacks opened their season with a 102-91 loss to Point Loma despite RaySean Scott Jr., Leland Green, and Jackson Strong combining for 75 points. HSU rebounded with an 89-81 win over Fresno Pacific. Rob Lewis had 24 points while Scott chipped in 15 and Amari Green added 13. Leland Green scored 12 points for HSU and Strong added 11 points for the victors. HSU won its home opener this past Wednesday 91-85 behind Scott’s 25 points. Zachariah Christian and Jackson Strong each scored 19 points for the ‘Jacks while Leland Green scored 14 points. HUMBOLDT STATE’S WOMEN’S ROWING TEAM STARTS OFF 2019-20 ON HIGH NOTE
Humboldt State’s women’s rowing team started their 2019-20 season at the Head of the Lagoon Regatta in Foster City, California, on Saturday, Nov. 9. The varsity 8+ finished in second place with a time of 20:19.9. The collegiate varsity 4+ finished in third place while the collegiate novice 8+ also finished in third place. The novice 4+ finished in fifth place.

HSU’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM DROPS FIVE-SET MATCH ON SENIOR NIGHT
Humboldt State’s volleyball team had to rally back from a 2-1 deficit fall short in a five-set loss to Sonoma State on Senior Night this past Tuesday. Prior to the match, HSU recognized its three seniors in Kayla Costell, Emma Flewell and Odelia Ryan in a ceremony prior to the match.
