The exhibit, Stories of the River, Stories of the People: Memory on the Klamath River Basin, was developed and curated by Brittani Orona, an enrolled member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe. She has a bachelor’s degree in History from HSU and a master’s degree in Public History from Sacramento State.

Through the exhibit, Orona explores the cultural importance of the Klamath River Basin, the detrimental effects of the PacifiCorp dams to Native culture, the combined efforts of all three tribes to remove the dams to protect their cultural heritage, and continuing concerns about the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement of 2010.

The exhibit also ties in with HSU’s 2015/20/16 Book of the Year, Salmon is Everything, and is part of the Klamath Connection, a new place-based learning community for freshmen entering natural resource sciences.
