The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, released today, places Humboldt State No. 12 among public regional universities in the West.
Humboldt State is also listed as the No. 46 university in the broader category that includes both public and private master’s level institutions in the West.
In the program-specific rankings, HSU’s engineering program—with a singular focus in Environmental Resources Engineering—was ranked 84 on the list of Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs. The school’s Masters of Social Work program was ranked 130 among all such programs nationwide.
U.S. News, which published the rankings in its annual “Best Colleges” report, bases its findings on several key measures of quality, including graduation rate, alumni giving, financial resources and student selectivity for entering classes.
The report defines master’s degree institutions as those universities granting baccalaureate and master’s degrees but with no or few doctoral programs. The rankings are further broken down by region, North, West, South and Midwest.
