Story (500 Words Max)

As part of the Let's Talk About the Middle East film and discussion series, HSU History professor Dr. Leena Dallasheh hosts a screening of April 22 – Wadjda (2012, Saudi Arabia).

In the first feature film shot entirely in Saudi Arabia, and the first feature film made by a female Saudi filmmaker, we follow Wadjda, a young Saudi girl, will go to great lengths to buy a green bicycle. Her goal challenges many societal restrictions. Yet, she insists and enters a Qur’an-reciting contest to raise the money for her dream.

The screening and discussion will take place at The Miniplex at Richards' Goat (401 I Street, Arcata)

Film series is free and open to all ages.
