Biological Sciences Seminar -

Dr. Emily Sessa, University of Florida, will present "Fern tales at two scales: Using
phylogenetics to study historical biogeography in Africa and community assembly in Florida".

Emily Sessa received her PhD in 2012 from the Botany Department at the University of Wiscons in Madison. After a one year postdoc
at the University of Arizona, she joined the faculty at the University of Florida, where she is currently an Associate Professor in the Biology Department. Her research focuses on the evolution and ecology of land plants, specifically ferns and lycophytes, and work in her lab broadly addresses the question: What ecological and evolutionary processes have generated, and help to maintain,
fern diversity?
