Dr. Anat Belasen, Cornell University, will present “ Friends or foes? Cross-domain microbial networks in the skin microbiome of a Brazilian Atlantic Forest endemic frog”
"I am a conservation scientist at heart, and an evolutionary ecologist in practice. My research is driven by a passion for the conservation of herpetofauna -reptiles and amphibians, fondly referred to as "herps." I've designed my research projects around the goal of identifying the ways in which herps vary in their susceptibility to anthropogenic (human-caused) stressors. Most of my research has centered around the hypothesis that the interactions of multiple stressors are to blame for contemporary population declines. My research to date has focused on anthropogenic stressors including habitat fragmentation (which often leads to loss of genetic diversity), emerging infectious diseases, and climate change".
