Story (500 Words Max)

Geoscientists and educators from Humboldt State University and the Redwood Coast Tsunami Workgroup collaborated with the National Science Foundation-funded Cascadia EarthScope Earthquake and Tsunami Education Program (CEETEP; http://ceetep.oregonstate.edu/) and the Southern California Earthquake Center for a four-day workshop for coastal northern California educators.

Twenty-seven K-12 teachers, park/museum interpreters, and emergency management educators from Humboldt and Del Norte counties participated in an intensive introduction to the science of earthquakes and tsunami in our region and how to best communicate preparedness information.

The workshop was held October 9-12 on the Humboldt State University campus and included a field trip of sites in coastal Humboldt and Del Norte Counties on Saturday, Oct. 10. The workshop is the sixth in a series by CEETEP and the first to be held in California.
