Alumni Giving Reaches New Heights

A record number of alumni are making gifts to Humboldt State University as the participation rate for the number of confirmed alumni has risen to 10 percent, a rate that is projected to top the 23-campus California State University system. This information comes from a recently submitted report on 2007-2008 academic year giving to the American Council on Education.

"There is a growing sense of momentum at the University; gorgeous new buildings and campus features, record enrollments, significant increases in research grants, and more, and I think alumni sense that momentum and are responding to it," said Vice President for Advancement Rob Gunsalus.

Total giving, excluding bequests, is at $3,495,900, while an additional $78,217 came in from bequests, bringing the grand total to $3,574,117.

"Having a relatively large percentage of alumni make contributions to the University is really evidence of their satisfaction with their student experience. It is also a sign that they understand that the erosion of public funding requires all who care about the university to support HSU if it is going to maintain and build on that quality," added Gunsalus.

This addition brings the University's total endowment to $18,447,207.
