ARCATA — The City of Arcata will recognize Humboldt State's national championship softball team Wednesday with a special proclamation saluting the Lumberjacks for their season of success.
As part of its regular meeting agenda, the City Council will offer its congratulations to Coach Frank Cheek and his players for their “perseverance, good sportsmanship, team spirit and athletic prowess,” displayed during their run to the title. In the document, the Council also recognizes the Jacks’ individual accomplishments, the program’s history, and the valuable link intercollegiate athletics provides between the local community and the university.
Mayor Mark E. Wheetley will preside over the meeting, which will be telecast live locally and webcast at the City of Arcata’s web site, cityofarcata.org. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
