Campus Forum on Shooting in Arcata, 4 p.m. today

Dear HSU Community,

Dear HSU Community,

I am writing concerning the shooting which took place at the Arcata Downtown Plaza in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 9. As a campus, we are always concerned about the health and welfare of our community. We want to give you an opportunity to meet and share your thoughts and concerns.

Today at 4 p.m. we are hosting a forum for an open dialogue about the incident and to address any questions and concerns that you may have. In attendance will be myself, HSU President Lisa Rossbacher; HSU Chief of Police Donn Peterson; Cheryl Johnson of the HSU Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; and a representative from the City of Arcata. Other HSU staff will be available as well.

The forum will be held in the University’s Goodwin Forum in Nelson Hall East at 4 p.m. today. There will be pizza and light refreshments.

For assistance any time, students can contact Counseling & Psychological Services at 707.326.3236 or the Dean of Students Office at 707.826.3504. Staff or faculty seeking additional support may utilize the Employee Assistance Program at 707.443.7358.
