“Meeting students and faculty on my first day was a great way to begin getting to know the campus community," Carvajal said. “I felt warmly welcomed, and I left in awe of the passion for living and learning in Humboldt.”
He will also attend the University Senate meeting on Tuesday, where he will have a chance to connect with University leadership and meet faculty and staff representatives from across campus.
Carvajal shared his enthusiasm for returning to Humboldt, a place where he spent part of his youth, and emphasized how meaningful it is to come back in a new role as the University’s first Latino president. He looks forward to getting to know the students, staff, and faculty who make Cal Poly Humboldt what it is.
In the coming weeks, Carvajal also will host a series of listening sessions for employees and students aimed at gathering feedback about the future of the University. Dates and details for those sessions will be announced soon.
In the meantime, students and employees are invited to meet President Carvajal in person at a welcome reception in the Library Lobby on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
