Although the Admissions Office will process spring applications, acceptances will depend on the state government’s adoption of a Fiscal 2010/2011 budget, which remains in limbo.
“The passing of the budget in a timely manner and the restoration of $305 million in funding proposed by the governor will allow the CSU to serve spring term students and provide immediate access to those already in the admissions pipeline,” CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed said July 29.
When the state completes a new budget, Humboldt State will notify applicants of their options. If enrollment funding is increased, the Admissions Office will accept pending spring applications. If not, applicants will be able to switch to Fall 2011 or withdraw and receive an application fee refund.
The CSU has provided the following admissions guidance to the 23-campus system:
“The initial application filing period for admission to the Spring 2011 term begins on August 1, 2010. However, because the California Governor and Legislature have not yet adopted a budget, CSU does not know how many students it can admit. While each campus will process your application conditionally, no offer of admission will be sent until we know more about the budget, including funding to support an increase in CSU’s enrollment.”
Further admissions guidance may be issued for Spring 2011 applications following the interim August 31 deadline.
