HSU Music Students Play in Reno

Five students from HSU's music department were invited to participate in the College Band Directors National Association Intercollegiate Band, an elite ensemble of outstanding musicians from small colleges throughout the western United States. The band performed in Reno, NV, on March 18, 2006 at the western division conference of the College Band Directors National Association.

The students representing HSU were: Amy Cadle, percussion; John Ferreira, trumpet; Aaron Lopez, bassoon; Elizabeth Olson, clarinet; and Susan Sisk, oboe.

Humboldt State University was one of the only universities in the West to have placed the maximum five students in CBDNA's Intercollegiate Band. Acceptance into this prestigious group speaks well of the individual achievements of these five students as well as the training they have received in HSU's music department.

The instrumentalists rehearsed and performed under the direction of Mr. Jerry Junkin, Director of Bands at the University of Texas at Austin, and one of the leading wind-band conductors in the country.
