The Lumberjacks were one of six selections on Tuesday for the 2024 NCAA Division II Rowing Championships that will be held May 31-June 1 on Harsha Lake at East Fork State Park in Bethel, Ohio.
The defending national champions will head to nationals as the underdog, as they finished second overall at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships this past weekend and are ranked fifth in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) poll. This is a familiar situation for the 'Jacks, as last season they also finished second at the GNAC Championships.
Humboldt will be joined by their three GNAC counterparts at the national championship regatta with conference champion Western Washington, Central Oklahoma, and Seattle Pacific all being selected. This marks the second consecutive season that GNAC will field four of the six teams in the national rowing championships for the NCAA Division II level.
Joining the four West Region programs will be 2022 national champion Mercyhurst from the East and Embry-Riddle from the South. Each team will field a Varsity Four and Varsity Eight entry in the regatta. Racing begins on Friday, May 31, with the Division II eight heats at 9 a.m. ET/6 a.m. PT followed by the fours at 9:24 a.m. ET/6:24 a.m. PT.
