Dr. Sillett will deliver a free lecture titled “Ecological Consequences of Crown Structure in the Tallest and Largest Trees” on Wednesday, September 27, at 5:00 p.m. in the John Van Duzer Theatre. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Renowned for his pioneering research of previously undiscovered communities of organisms in tall trees, Dr. Sillett has been published in the American Journal of Botany, Ecological Applications, Northwest Science and other publications. His work also has been the subject of articles in Discover, National Geographic, New Scientist and The New Yorker.
A brief hosted reception will follow immediately after the lecture and the traditional dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room at University Center. Any proceeds will go to the Redwood Forest Ecology Research Trust.
The dinner is open to Humboldt State students, staff and faculty, as well as to the public, and tickets may be purchased with a call to the Research, Graduate Studies, and International Programs Office at 826-5194. The contact person is Cynthia Werner.
General ticket prices are $35.00 or $40.00, depending on meal selection. Student prices, limited to the cost of the meal, range from $18.25 to $26.85. Dinner reservations are due by Tuesday, September 19.
