This practical guide to conducting statistical power analyses was written for students and researchers with limited quantitative backgrounds. The book focuses on conducting power analyzes using SPSS but also provides detailed calculations to foster stronger conceptual understanding of material. Most importantly, the text is a “how-to” guide for researchers and students. The book provides tools for researchers (SPSS syntax files) to use in conducting their own power analyses and demonstrates exactly how to use those tools.
Reviews of the text have been very positive. For example, Allen I. Huffcutt of Bradley University writes "This book presents concepts in a more accessible manner than the other books out there. … The author has a real talent for presenting complex topics in a manner that is accessible and easy to follow." Dale Berger of Claremont Graduate University reports that “The book provides users with the means to compute power accurately for many situations where no other methods are readily available…[it] provides methods for dealing with complex data with greater accuracy.”
