Staff, faculty, and students are invited to the So You Want To Teach event to learn more about the 11 Ways to become a teacher at HSU. Join us for free Carmela’s tacos served by our student club SCTA, enjoy games and activities related to teaching, explore the history and future of teachers making society more just and sustainable and meet and greet members of the campus community working to make HSU a more diverse and successful place for all students. This event will follow the Dialogue on Race Keynote speech with the activities Thursday, November 7 from 7-8:30 in the Jolly Giant Rec Room on the first floor. There will be something enlightening, fun and tasty for everyone so plan to make it an evening and join us. Please encourage students who you feel would make great teachers to come as well. Teaching is the noble profession where we can do well while doing good. A few facts worth considering:
· California needs 100,000 teachers over the next decade.
· Teachers find jobs in every corner of the state.
· California teachers are the third highest paid in the nation; average wage = $80,000.
· A credential is your passport to a challenging, rewarding and meaningful profession that helps make the world a better place everyday.
