Graduates will cross the stage in the Lumberjack Arena for Fall Commencement this Decemeber.
The Lumberjack Arena, typically buzzing with the sounds of athletics games, will trade nets for caps and gowns on Friday, Dec. 20 as it hosts Cal Poly Humboldt’s Fall Commencement.

The University will host two ceremonies: the first will start at 1 p.m. and will celebrate students in the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Science and the College of Professional Studies. The second will be for the College of Natural Resources & Sciences, starting at 3:30 p.m. Nearly 280 graduates are expected to participate in the ceremonies.

The on-campus Commencement ceremonies will be live-streamed to allow families, friends, and the campus community to watch Cal Poly Humboldt’s newest graduates cross the stage. The live-stream will be available at humboldt.edu with live captioning in both English and Spanish. The Center for Translation & Interpretation will be performing live simultaneous interpretation at the event for guests in attendance, and two American Sign Language interpreters will be providing interpretation services during the ceremonies. A video of the live-stream will be available online at commencement.humboldt.edu in the week following the event for anyone who may have missed it.

Starting this year, the Commencement program will be available to guests in an electronic format. This transition supports Humboldt's sustainability goals and honors the Graduation Pledge, helping to reduce paper waste and promote environmentally conscious practices.

Humboldt's first graduation event occurred in May 1915 at Arcata's Minor Theatre, where 15 women received teaching certificates. Nearly 106 years later, Humboldt held its first Fall Commencement ceremony in 2021.
