AS Offers Services To Help Students Wrap Up Semester

Associated Students Council is hosting two weeks of events geared toward helping HSU students get the most out of the end of the spring semester.

To help students prepare for final exams, AS Council is hosting a study lounge every evening from 5 p.m. to midnight in the University Center South Lounge and Karshner Lounge. Food, coffee, other drinks, along with study materials will be available.

In conjunction with the Learning Center Tutorial Program, Associated Students will also provide free drop in tutoring from 6–9 p.m. on the following dates: Monday — biology, chemistry, math and philosophy; Tuesday—botany, chemistry, math, philosophy, physics and statistics.

Stress release activities will be provided through University Center’s Recreation and Wellness Program. University Center Executive Director Dave Nakamura will bring his dogs, Tula and Milo, on campus for “Puppy Therapy” on Monday from 5-6:30 p.m.

“Tula and Milo enjoy meeting HSU students and they seem to have positive effects on our students,” Nakamura said. “They offer a nice break from the stress of finals and allow students to clear their minds and not have to think about their studies, even if it’s only for a couple of minutes.”

On Tuesday and Wednesday backrubs will be provided by the HSU Stress Busters from 5-6:30 p.m.

“We want to make sure are students are prepared for their finals and are taking care of themselves,” AS President Forust Ercole said.

To combat the high price of textbooks Associated Students will operate a free book exchange for HSU students. Students can buy, sell and trade their textbooks at no additional cost. More information on the textbook exchange can be found at www.humboldt.edu/associatedstudents.
