Hosted by the MultiCultural Center, the two-day conference includes keynote presentations, workshops, a film screening and discussion, and more, all under the theme “Revisit, Regenerate, Recommit!” Topics covered will include art and activism, social justice, equity, and inclusion.
The conference also features a performance by 1491s, a sketch comedy troupe of Native American writers, filmmakers, artists, and cultural advocates. The troupe, which performed at HSU during Indigenous Peoples Week to a sold-out crowd, has been featured on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
The summit kicks off with 1491s on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Van Duzer Theatre. Saturday’s events start at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast in the Karshner Lounge, following various workshops, including a panel session with the 1491s.
The summit is open to the public. Admission is free for high school and HSU students, $25 for faculty and community members, and $20 for members of non-profit organizations.
For information on registration and registration deadlines go to HSU’s Extended Education’s website.
The MultiCultural Center (MCC) is a dynamic and inclusive student-centered learning community that supports students in their academic and personal journeys at HSU and is committed to retention and student success by providing co-curricular opportunities for leadership development, social justice advocacy, identity exploration, and cross-cultural learning experiences.
