Released this month, the list recognizes colleges and universities across seven regions—Northeast, South, Southwest, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, West and International—that The Princeton Review considers academically outstanding and worth considering in a college search.
The 2027 list includes 630 institutions, including 79 colleges and universities in the West region.
Inclusion is based in part on data collected through student surveys, giving prospective students insight into academics and the student experience. The company’s profile of Cal Poly Humboldt highlights the University’s focus on small class sizes, hands-on learning opportunities, unique communities, and its location between the redwoods and the Pacific Ocean.
Cal Poly Humboldt was also named a top Green College by the Princeton Review, recognizing colleges committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. The University was also recently included on Money’s 2026 Best Colleges list.
Together, the recognitions highlight Cal Poly Humboldt’s distinctive academic experience, commitment to environmental and social responsibility, and continued national visibility as Northern California’s first polytechnic university.
