In total, more than 2,500 attended and more than 90 faculty members participated in the commencement, which was celebrated through two ceremonies. Ceremonies included graduates from the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, the College of Professional Studies, and the College of Natural Resources & Sciences.

"Commencement marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. These graduates have all demonstrated incredible resilience and commitment to their education, and it is an honor to celebrate this milestone with them," says Advancement Events and Commencement Coordinator Shannon Collart.

During the first ceremony, the University awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters to Aileen Meyer, vice chairwoman of the Bear River Band of Rohnerville Rancheria. Meyer has served the Tribe in multiple capacities throughout her career, including authoring the Tribe’s inaugural constitution. Her many accomplishments also include helping to enshrine the Tribe’s governance, acting as its first chairperson, and pursuing significant federal grant funding and other resources.

The featured speaker was Aldaron Laird, who attended Cal Poly Humboldt from 1975-1978 to study Biology. Laird is lauded for his contributions to environmental planning, sea-level rise assessment, and habitat restoration. He inspired the creation of the Cal Poly Humboldt Sea Level Rise Institute (SLRI), a critical hub for research and collaboration on sea-level rise issues in Northern California, according to Humboldt’s alumni association, Forever Humboldt.

Each ceremony was live-streamed and is available to view on the Commencement website.
