Election packets will be available at the Associated Student office in the University Center’s South Lounge beginning Monday, March 9. Election packets are due by Monday, April 6.
This year’s available positions include president and other executive-level offices, and several council member positions, which represent the campus’s three colleges and the university as a whole.
Candidates are required to gather between 50 and 150 signatures, depending on the position. Associated Students provides candidates opportunities to meet constituents and produce short introductory videos.
Those running for office are encouraged to pursue their own unique campaigns. “We always recommend that the candidates get out there and let the students know who they are, too,” says Molly Kresl, HSU coordinator for Clubs & Activities.
Time commitments depend on the position and level of responsibility. Stipends are available.
Associated Students is the vehicle for student involvement in the shared governance of Humboldt State. The group helps coordinate more than 20 campus programs, including the Associated Students Presents concert series, the Children’s Center, the MultiCultural Center, and the Student Access Gallery.
