Friday’s event will be the culmination of a week-long letters-and-faxes blitz to the governor and the state legislature opposing further budget reductions and advocating the CSU as the solution to California’s serious economic problems. The CSU generates $4.41 in economic activity for every dollar invested.
Volunteers will be on hand Friday to gather additional letters and faxes to be sent to Sacramento.
Scheduled speakers are President Rollin Richmond, CFA Representative Robin Meiggs, AS President Sofia Pereira, State Senator Pat Wiggins and Assemblyman Wesley Chesbro, among others.
Alliance for the CSU is a coalition of students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and community advocates, formed last year to stem a prolonged succession of deep reductions in California’ s spending on higher education.
