On-Campus Voter Engagement Opportunities

As election day quickly approaches, efforts throughout campus are focused on increasing voter turnout among students.

During the last presidential election in 2020, approximately 87% of Cal Poly Humboldt students registered to vote, according to the 2020 National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement report by Tufts University. Of those registered voters, 82% cast their votes, up from 54% in 2018. The overall voting rate on campus was approximately 72% in 2020—higher than the average of 65% for public institutions in that same year.

With less than two weeks remaining until the Nov. 5 election, the Cal Poly Humboldt community is hosting several opportunities on campus to register and engage voters and underscore the power of students’ political voices.

Register and Cast Your Vote on Campus

Students can cast their votes on campus on election day and in the days leading up to Nov. 5. The Voting Center, put on by the Humboldt County Elections Office, will be located on the first floor of the Jolly Giant Commons (JGC). Students can vote in person, register to vote, drop off their mail-in ballots, use accessible voting machines, and access voter information and materials in multiple languages at the center.

The Voting Center will be open from Nov. 2-4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Nov. 5 from 7-8 p.m.
