In collaboration with the Center for Community Based Learning, Cal Poly Humboldt's Career Development Center is thrilled to announce the return of its largest annual event, the Career Expo & Volunteer Fair, on Thursday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., in the West Gym.

This year, the Expo anticipates hosting 90 local and out-of-area employers eager to engage with students and graduates across all majors. Employers will offer opportunities, including full- and part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer positions.

“Events like these are valuable in many ways, but most notably in providing students with career steps to take during their time at Cal Poly Humboldt and once they have graduated,” says J.D. Garza, the interim director of the Career Development Center.

Key features of the Career Expo & Volunteer Fair include free, studio-style headshots for students to enhance their LinkedIn profiles and a complimentary lunch for Expo attendees while supplies last.

Students are encouraged to register in advance through their Humboldt Handshake account, though registration is not mandatory. They can download the app and create their profiles with uploaded resumes before the event for optimal employer engagement, enabling students to share resumes and contact information seamlessly.

Dressing for success is also advised, with a recommendation for business casual attire. For students needing professional clothing, the Career Clothing Closet at Oh SNAP offers free, gently used attire. To schedule an appointment, contact ohsnap@humboldt.edu or call 707-826-4556.

This year’s Career Expo & Volunteer Fair is hosted by the Career Development Center. Formerly part of the Academic and Career Advising Center, the new standalone center will continue strengthening connections between students, academic departments, employers, and the local community.

Now, under the division of Enrollment Management, the center plans to expand employer partnerships, enhance staffing, and establish a physical center with potential satellite connections.

The center will maintain its services, which include a part-time job fair, employer meets and greets, skillshops during themed weeks, and career prep presentations in classrooms and with various departments and clubs in partnership with faculty and students across the University.
